Minimum wage

« Back to Glossary Index

The minimum wage established by the government, below which any collective or individual negotiation is null. When determining the amount of the minimum wage, the government must take into account the CPI, national average productivity, the increase in labor’s share of national income, and the general economic situation. The minimum wage constitutes the basic reference for determining certain items, such as the responsibility of the FOGASA, the advance payment of amounts recognized in judgments, and the minimum contribution bases, among others.
